Step Out Of Line Promotion

Ok so its 1AM I’m up working so I put in Prote-J “Good Hip Hop Meets Radio” ok he’s not gutta but let’s go. Track one comes on and he’s really going in on “Here I’m Alone”. This is a track taking shot commercial tracks that have been getting radio play from all over. Prote-J has a valid point making fun of tracks like stanky leg getting 300 spins a month. When tracks from 50 Cent come and go these days. Track two comes on and the hook goes “I’m living in the south with a up north swag”. From here on I’m like ok dude has a northern flow sounding like a Fabolous with a twist. Then we get to the “Get Cash” track with a nice beat, we all like a get money song. But in this track Prote-J don’t talk about getting money from the streets he talking more positive things. He mentions about going to school and being an entrepreneur something you rarely hear from today’s rappers. Now I’m really listening and the hook comes in “I get cash I grind hard” he will get cash more ways than one. Then “Distance” comes on, sound familiar but I never heard it before. These are the songs that Prote-J is giving you industry sounding tracks. You can tell he’s season in the studio very good on the producer side. “Distance” could have very well been on Jay Z Blueprint album and so can “Let You Down”. Coming to the end of the mixtape he has a song called “Dear Lord”. He gets really deep with this track as if he’s having a conversation with GOD. It’s a track about the struggles of a young adult trying to do what’s right in today’s world. In closing don’t be surprised if one day soon, this young man has a hit in the top ten billboard hip hop charts. He is a total package for any major label songwriter, producer and performer inspired by the late great Michael Jackson. This artist has the potential to be making his mark in the industry for years to come.

Ok so now I’m about to see what Gainesville has to offer other than Gator sports and my artist Da Commissioner. I got this Gainesville Muscle CD Hosted By DJ Smoke and the artists are AZ IZ. Track one is called “Here I Go Again” has the hook from a rock group called Whitesnake release in 1982 on their album saints and sinners then recorded again in 1987. The verse comes in with Az Iz speaking on the struggle of life in Gainesville. They even speak to god telling him how the streets are not giving back, but they will make it. This is a risk taking song but I think they pulled it off. I don’t know who started it first but it’s different ways of saying it and Az Iz called it “Ride or Die”. This is your classic song about your number one chick. Nice flow going with this track talking about an independent chick that trusts her man. She knows that’s daddy home when he home and when in the streets there are no worries. These guys really make this track stand out by giving you something you already heard…for the first time. Aight so now I’m listening to “My Car” I haven’t heard a good car song in a while. Not only is the beat bangin on this track but Az Iz is spittin like no other. The hook goes ”my car… I got big rims riding around the corner I see a bad bitch imma ride right up on her….I got the wet paint drippin same color of coke a cola..(that’s red for you lame). So now I’m listening to a freestyle over a Drake beat. I’m like oh no they didn’t’ not “Successful” ,but check this out they didn’t miss a beat. Proving that there are other artists, if given the chance can bang a song out just like Drake. “Just Like That” slide in and it’s a track for the women. Let tell you I’m about 12 tracks in and I’m really impress with the skills of these young artists. They def know how to put a song together with “Are We Over Love” . Far too many times street artist forget to tell you a story about break ups and love. This song was well thought out and can easy be in your top ten radio tracks. So now I’m at the end of the cd and “Gainesville” comes on. I sit up in my chair and I think damn this is another good song. They have a nice flow, remind me of Do or Die, Twist and Bones on most tracks. One thing I know now,that Gainesville has more than college football and basketball. They have Az Iz a group not far from making it big with records like “Are We Over Love”. I’m sure I’ll be hearing more from the artists.

Bossman Ent is a label out of 305 with artists Diallo,B.O. and Big Mall…let’s go. Track one “Living That Life” is nothing other than a BOSS track. When you talking about bad bitches and Maybach rides you talking BOSS shit. This is an opener from the label letting you know “over here we straight”. Then we move into track two “Dade County” feature on this track is Florida legendary JT Money. Good to see they reach out to one of florida most loved rappers. Now we heading to “Point of The Matter” this track come across as very commercial. The hook goes “I know all about you baby and I don’t wanna deal with your things no more the point of the matter is you don’t really care”. You get to see how versatile these are artists can be. This track is surely geared for radio and a cross over ordnance. After listening to it a few times I find myself repeating the hook. This is very catch and if promoted right it can be a huge radio track. So now I’m down to track six “Fire Cracker” and I thought “Point of The Matter” was a cross over track….boy “Fire Crack” is nothing less. This is a high energy track that I would take straight to a gentlemen club for promotion and college radio. Any young adult would party with this track any given weekend. With Chats like “she a fire cracker” and “let me see you shake a lil more.. more.. more”. This track will definitely get your dance floor pack in any college club. On to the next track and of course it a hater song. “Hi Hater” is pretty much like your regular track, but its good to see artist staying consistent by showing the haters thanks for the motivation. I’m skip down to the last track “We Vibin” . One thing I tell industry people that Miami artists and Tampa artist have a similar sound. “We Vibin” is pretty much a Tampa jook song without the I, I, I, I, in it. You can pretty much get this song played in any Tampa club during power hours with ease. This a feel good song something you might play on your way to the club. Over all Bossman Ent has show you that not only are they ready for the streets, but they are ready for the mainstream ordnance. These days as a artist you have to be ready for both. I feel Bossmen Ent has accomplish just that.
